Arcadia’s Proposed Budget Available Online

The community is welcome to view the City’s Proposed Operating Budget for Fiscal Years 2026-2027 and the five-year Capital Improvement and Equipment Plan. This year’s budget process started with a Budget Study Session with the City Council on May 5, with adoption scheduled for the June 16 meeting.

Arcadia’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 General Fund Operating Budget proposes an expenditure budget of $100.1 million, which includes $485,000 in new programs and services, and makes $4.8 million in transfers to the Capital Improvement and Equipment Replacement Funds.

The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) serves as Arcadia’s roadmap to maintain its infrastructure and buildings, purchase large assets, and undertake large construction projects in the coming years. Based on the type of work being performed, extended timeframes, and greater costs, most capital projects require several years to complete. Projects that remain unfinished at year-end are carried forward into the next fiscal year, until the work is done. For FY2026-27, capital projects total $7.3 million and include upgrades to the Arcadia Public Library, Council Chambers, the Community Center, as well as replacing old lighting throughout the City with energy-efficient LEDs. To support water quality standards, a significant investment is also planned to expand the treatment capacity at Orange Grove Well.

The Equipment Replacement Fund is used to replace existing assets that have reached the end of their useful life. For the upcoming year, $4.4 million in replacements are planned, including $1.5 million for the Police Department’s new dispatch and records system, $1.3 million to reconstruct a radio communication tower, and vehicle replacements for the Water Division, Streets Division, and Police Department.

Attend the June 16 meeting or tune in here to see what's included in the new budget.

Safety Spotlight: Wildfire Risk Reduction Program Launch

Deffensible Space Assessment Program
The Arcadia Fire Department has officially launched its Defensible Space Assessment Program to help residents reduce wildfire risk and better protect their homes and neighborhoods.

Fire Prevention Specialists Angelina and Wendy are working directly with homeowners in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, providing valuable tips, resources, and guidance on creating and maintaining defensible space around properties. Simple steps like clearing dry vegetation, trimming trees, and maintaining a safe buffer zone around your home are essential during wildfire season.  Home hardening methods such as attic vents, tempered windows, and noncombustible fencing will also be shared with homeowners.

Learn more about the program and wildfire preparedness by visiting: www.arcadiaca.gov/fhsz

Residents are also encouraged to sign up for the Wildfire Risk Outreach Interest Form to receive updates about future wildfire preparedness initiatives, community outreach opportunities, and resources using the online form.
