All structures containing rental dwellings or boarding rooms must be registered with the City of Bettendorf. The registration must be renewed every year and is good for the calendar year. A valid rental registration is required for each rental unit in the City of Bettendorf. Failure to register may result in the structure being ordered to be vacated and/or a municipal citation may be issued requiring an appearance in Scott County Court. A Certificate of Compliance may be issued on request but is not required to be posted.
Iowa State Law requires the inspection of all rental housing on a regular basis. The City of Bettendorf Housing Inspection Program began in January 1986.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Rental registrations are handled by the Finance Department. Registrations must be renewed annually and run from January 1 - December 31st. Registration fees for new or newly-sold Rental Housing Units may be prorated quarterly.
