Redevelopment in Dunellen

Dunellen’s redevelopment journey began in 2001, with the designation of key downtown areas as sites for revitalization. After years of planning, we are seeing significant growth, and the goals we’ve been working toward for over two decades are finally coming to fruition. You can see this in the successful development of previously vacant and underutilized properties such as the former Art Color property which is now home to The Nell and The Crossing at the Dunellen Station and the new building of 150 North Avenue on the site of a former vacant auto body repair shop. These types of projects increase property values Borough-wide and help create a vibrant downtown for us all. Additionally, over time, it increases the commercial property values in the downtown, stabilizing the tax burden on residents as approximately 90% of Dunellen’s tax base relies on residential properties, which stresses the importance of revitalizing and investing in our downtown.
