You may be able to receive a free car seat! The Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program provides car seats and booster seats to families. Children ages newborn to 13 are eligible for the program.
About the Program
Ohio Buckles Buckeyes is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Health and is coordinated by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Funding for the program comes from child restraint fines generated through the Child Highway Safety Fund and from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office at the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
Eligibility
To qualify for the program, you must meet the following guidelines:
- Meet the monthly income requirements for the program (You do not need to be part of WIC to be eligible, but the program follows these income guidelines.)
- Be a Clermont County resident
- Be the legal guardian of a child (Newborn to age 13)
How to Receive Your Free Car Seat
If you meet the requirements listed above, follow this checklist to receive your free car seat:
- Call (513) 735-8400 and ask for the Ohio Buckles Buckeyes program.
- Leave your name and phone number for a return call to schedule an appointment.
- Receive a return phone call to schedule your appointment.
- Attend your training appointment (approximately 60 minutes) at Clermont County Public Health’s Nursing Division with your child and vehicle to learn about proper installation.
- Bring proof of income, the owner’s manual for the vehicle (if available), proof of guardianship (if applicable), and proof of Clermont County residency to your appointment.
