The City of La Mirada Business Recognition Program highlights local businesses and honors their achievements. Businesses are recognized for demonstrating significant community involvement, celebrating anniversary milestones, and other special achievements unique to their industry.
The City will recognize local businesses at City Council meetings, on the City website, and in the City Business Newsletter. Featured businesses must be located in the City of La Mirada and hold a valid City Business License.

The La Mirada City Council recognized Kira Kira for its 10th anniversary at the November 9 Council meeting. Kira Kira serves a medley of fresh sushi, sashimi, and a variety of different rolls.
Chunwoo Lim is the owner and head chef of this family-owned restaurant. Mr. Lim’s wife serves as the manager, his eldest son is also a chef, and his youngest son is a server. He opened Kira Kira in 2011, located on the southeast corner of Imperial Highway and Santa Gertrudes Avenue, with the goal of serving healthy and fresh sushi to the community.
Mr. Lim and his family enjoy providing quality sushi to their customers and look forward to remaining in La Mirada for many years.

The City recognized In-N-Out Burger for celebrating its 30th anniversary in the community. The restaurant first opened in La Mirada in 1995 as the company's 105th location and has since become a favorite destination for residents and visitors alike. 
Since its founding in 1948, In-N-Out Burger has built a reputation for serving high quality food with friendly service while maintaining the company's founding values of freshness, quality, and hospitality. Today, the company operates more than 425 locations across nine states and employs more than 43,000 associates.
The La Mirada restaurant employs approximately 100 associates and has remained a strong employer in the community for three decades. In-N-Out is also known for its commitment to employee development, offering competitive wages, advancement opportunities, and a supportive work environment.
Beyond its restaurants, the company actively supports communities through charitable partnerships and fundraising efforts. Through the In-N-Out Burger Foundation and Slave 2 Nothing Foundation, the company funds initiatives that combat child abuse, substance abuse, and human trafficking.
Over the years, In-N-Out has contributed nearly $100,000 to nonprofit organizations, youth programs, and community initiatives in La Mirada and surrounding communities.

City of La Mirada Recognizes IHOP on 60th Anniversary
The La Mirada City Council recognized IHOP for its 60th anniversary at the August 10 Council meeting. IHOP has provided delicious food and outstanding customer service since it first opened its location at 15140 La Mirada Boulevard in 1961. Over the years, the restaurant has become a favorite breakfast destination for La Mirada residents.
Phyllis Warren is the owner of the La Mirada IHOP and her partner, Tom Lustbaum, oversees the operation of the La Mirada Location. Arturo Martinez has been the manager at this popular location for the past 52 years. IHOP has been a staple in the community and continued to serve meals during the pandemic, by providing an outside dining option for its customers.

The La Mirada City Council recognized Marzola Construction for its 25th anniversary at its March 12 City Council meeting.
Marco and Paula Marzola are the owners of Marzola Construction, which specializes in commercial concrete projects, specifically within the grocery store industry. While its office is located at 17025 Industry Place, a team of 30 employees work on small and large-scale projects throughout California.
Marco and Paula assumed responsibility for the company in the late 1990’s from Marco’s father and have enjoyed having their business in La Mirada. Marco serves in the role of President and Paula is the Secretary Treasurer. Their son, who recently graduated college, plans to join the company soon.

The La Mirada City Council recognized K & T Donuts for its 20th anniversary at its August 8 City Council meeting.
Henry Chen is the owner of K & T Donuts which opened in 2003. Mr. Chen, along with his wife and two children, operates the family business. K & T Donuts serves a variety of fresh donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and beverages every morning.
Henry Chen and his family are highly active in the community. They support and sponsor local sports teams and donate donuts to many community events. Both of his children, Charles and Yvonne, attended schools in La Mirada and graduated from La Mirada High School. The Chen family looks forward to continuing to support the community and providing high quality breakfast items for all to enjoy.

Staci Burkhouse-Martinez is the Acting General Manager for North Woods Inn and has been employed with the restaurant for 33 years. She has also been a resident of La Mirada for the past 20 years.
North Woods Inn’s warm and woodsy atmosphere and its signature salads and cheese bread is a staple of La Mirada. Also serving a variety of steaks and seafood, North Woods has something on the menu for everyone. As one of the larger restaurants in La Mirada, it hosts large dinner parties, gatherings, and banquets.

Lori Armstrong is the owner of Electric Tan, a family-owned business that opened in 2008. Electric Tan is a smart tan certified salon offering the most advanced and popular tanning systems in the industry. This tanning destination is open seven days a week and offers a variety of daily specials.
Lori Armstrong was a resident of La Mirada for over 30 years. Her children attended La Mirada elementary and middle schools and graduated from La Mirada High School. Mrs. Armstrong continues to stay involved in the community by sponsoring local sports teams.
