GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION – JUNE 2, 2026
On January 27, 2026, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 26-03 calling for a General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, for the election of City Councilmembers representing Districts 1 and 2. The nomination period for candidates was February 9 through March 6, 2026. The City Clerk’s Office only received nomination papers from resident John Lewis for District 1 and resident Michelle Velasquez Bean for District 2, and both were qualified candidates for the General Municipal Election on June 2, 2026.
On March 17, City Council adopted Resolution No. 26-09 appointing John Lewis as a Member of the City Council representing District 1 and appointing Michelle Velasquez Bean as Member of the City Council representing District 2 each for a four-year term. The City's General Municipal Election scheduled to be held on June 2 for Districts 1 and 2 was canceled.
VOTE CENTERS AND EARLY BALLOT DROP-OFF LOCATIONS
Recruitment and selection of Vote Centers is underway. A list of locations will be made available 30-40 days before Election Day at locator.lavote.gov/locations/vc

Districts 1 and 2
The General Municipal Election for Districts 1 and 2 will held be in 2030.
Districts 3, 4 and 5
The General Municipal Election for Districts 3, 4, and 5 will be held March 2028.
