Project Background
The Town of Watertown is undertaking two projects to enhance Main Street (Route 73) from French Street to the Waterbury City Line. These efforts will improve safety, accessibility, and the overall streetscape to create a more walkable, vibrant, and economically thriving corridor.
Watertown Design Project
This project focuses on a 0.7-mile section of Main Street between French Street and Baldwin Street. The goal is to develop and implement specific safety and streetscape improvements, such as better sidewalks, crosswalks, lighting, and accessibility enhancements.
The design project is based on the 2018 Road Safety Audit and the 2020 Main Street Concept. If you have any questions or comments on these two reports, please email them to Gerald Lukowski ([email protected]).
Oakville Planning Project
Covering a 2.5-mile stretch from French Street to the Waterbury City Line, this project will evaluate transportation challenges, explore future improvements, and establish a long-term vision for a more connected and pedestrian-friendly corridor.
Both projects embrace a Complete Streets approach to design and public input is essential to shaping these improvements.

We Need Your Input!
The Town of Watertown wants to hear from residents, businesses, and visitors about how Main Street can be improved. Your feedback will help shape the final designs and ensure that the improvements reflect the needs of the community.
By taking a few minutes to complete the Main Street Improvement Surveys, you can share your thoughts on sidewalk conditions, safety concerns, traffic flow, parking, public transit, landscaping, and more. Your input will directly influence decisions about where and how improvements are made.
