The Investigations Unit makes sure the District Attorney has the evidence and witnesses necessary to go to trial. The unit does this primarily by following-up on the initial investigation, gathering additional evidence and interviewing witnesses to fill in details that were not covered initially. Once the evidence has been obtained, investigators help organize and prepare exhibits for a deputy district attorney to present to the jury during the trial. The Investigations Unit also acts as the primary investigative agency in Yuba County for child concealment cases and officer-involved shootings.
The District Attorney's Office employs a Chief Investigator and two Senior Investigators. All of the investigators are sworn California Peace Officers. The Investigative Unit is accredited by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
