Sheriff Anderson was born and raised in Yuba County and graduated from Lindhurst High School in 1987. He and his wife Tammy have been married for 26 years and have two children. Their son Zachary is 24 and in the US Air Force; and 20-year-old daughter Mikayla is in her final quarter at UC Davis. Sheriff Anderson attended the modular Police Academy at Yuba College and graduated in 1996, where he also earned his AS. He has also been involved with the academy in recent years as an instructor.
Sheriff Anderson made a conscious decision to live and work in Yuba County and to raise his family here. The Anderson’s have called Loma Rica home for the past 18 years. Sheriff Anderson has been very active in the community and coached youth sports for many years. He is currently a member of the Marysville Kiwanis Club, and coached at Marysville High School for several years as well.
Wendell Anderson began his career at the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department as a Reserve Deputy in 1996 and was promoted to a Community Service officer in 1998, before becoming a Full Time Deputy Sheriff on patrol from 1998 to 2002. In 2002, Anderson was promoted to Sergeant and worked as a patrol supervisor for several years. During his time as a Sergeant, he had several different assignments including FTO Coordinator, SWAT Assistant Team Leader, Investigations Supervisor, and METYU Coordinator. Sheriff Anderson was a Resident Hill Sergeant and oversaw the Resident Deputy program for several years before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, he began in the Operations Division by overseeing the day-to-day patrol activities, the Reserve program, and Search and Rescue. In addition to those duties, he was promoted to the rank of SWAT Commander, overseeing tactical operations and training. He was then assigned to the Investigations Unit where he was in charge of overseeing the investigations of the most serious of crimes in the County.
Over the course of Sheriff Anderson’s career, he has worked several large-scale emergency operations. He was involved in the Williams Fire (1997), the Pendola Fire (1999), the Yuba Fire (2009), and most recently the Cascade Fire (2017). As a reserve Deputy, he worked during the flood of 1997 and was on duty on the night of the break in the Levee. Sheriff Anderson has experienced both being on the frontlines of such emergencies at the operational level, such as conducting door-to-door evacuations; to the planning and oversight that occurs at the Executive Management level.
Some of Sheriff Anderson’s Career Accomplishments:
- Officer of the year (2007)
- Lead detective on numerous homicides that resulted in conviction and sentencing of the perpetrators.
- One of the lead detectives in a case involving a serial killer that began in the State of Nevada. The suspect was identified as having murdered several women, including two in Yuba County in the late nineties. A multi-jurisdictional task force was formed in which he had an active role in the case from beginning to end. The subject was found guilty on several counts of murder and in prison awaiting the death penalty.
- Sheriff Anderson was Instrumental in the merging of the Yuba County Regional SWAT team and the Yuba City Police Department SWAT team into the Yuba Sutter Regional SWAT team. The team is comprised of Officers from Yuba City Police Department, Yuba City Fire Department, Marysville Police Department, Linda Fire Department and Yuba County Sheriff’s Deputies. The regional SWAT team provides emergency tactical response to the incorporated areas of Yuba City, Marysville, Wheatland and Beale AFB, along with the unincorporated areas of Yuba County.
Sheriff Anderson states, “Public Safety in Yuba County has been my top priority for the past two decades. As your Sheriff, I plan to continue to work hard and will dedicate my time towards enhancing it in any way that I can. Having been raised in Yuba County I have an appreciation of the area, its people, and the challenges that we face. I have worked in every beat within the County and understand the unique problems in each. I truly look forward to serving the constituents of Yuba County.”
Undersheriff Morawcznski began his law enforcement career as a Yuba County Deputy Sheriff in 1997. As a Deputy, Undersheriff Morawcznski worked as a Field Training Officer, Resident Foothill Deputy and SWAT operator. In 2002, Undersheriff Morawcznski took on the position of Welfare Fraud Investigator with Yuba County before moving on to the Yuba City Police Department in 2005. During his time at the Yuba City Police Department, Undersheriff Morawcznski was assigned to Patrol and Investigations. He was a member of the agency’s SWAT team, rising to the position of SWAT Commander. As a Patrol Sergeant, he also oversaw the departments Field Training Program. Undersheriff Morawcznski was the recipient of two Life Saving Awards, the Distinguished Service Medal and chosen as the department’s Officer of the Year in 2010.
Undersheriff Morawcznski holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management. He is a 2016 graduate of the U.C. Davis Leadership Program and a 2020 graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Undersheriff Morawcznski was raised in the Yuba County foothills where he still makes his home with his wife and three children.
Lt. Brandon Spear was born and raised in Yuba County and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1999. He and his wife Cotie have been married for 13 years and make their home in the Foothills of Yuba County. Lt. Spear attended the modular Police Academy at Yuba College and graduated in 2002, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from California Coast University.
Lt. Spear and his family have been very active in the community and their family currently operates the Museum of Forgotten warriors in Linda CA.
Lt. Spear began his career at the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department as a cadet in 2000 and was promoted to a Correctional Officer in 2002, before becoming a Full Time Deputy Sheriff on patrol from 2003 to 2016. In 2016, Spear was promoted to Sergeant and worked as a patrol supervisor for several years. During his time as a Sergeant, he had several different assignments including Resident Foothill Sergeant, Asset Forfeiture Liaison and METYU Coordinator before being promoted to Lieutenant in January 2021. As a Lieutenant, he began in the Operations Division by overseeing the day-to-day patrol activities, the Reserve program, and Search and Rescue, Cadets, and METYU.

Lieutenant Parker began his career at the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department in August of 2002 in the Corrections Division. After graduating from the Yuba College Police Academy in 2004, he promoted to the capacity of a patrol Deputy in the Operations Division. Lieutenant Parker has held the positions of Detective, Field Training Officer, SWAT Team Member, Patrol Sergeant, and Detective Sergeant. In 2014, he was recognized as the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department’s Peace Officer of the Year. As a Detective Sergeant, he oversaw a group of Detectives and assisted with solving complex cases. He was promoted in 2023 to the rank of Lieutenant overseeing Operations and the Investigations Division. Lieutenant Parker was raised in Yuba County and still resides in Yuba County with his wife and two daughters.
Lieutenant Susan Jensen started her career in law enforcement in April 2002 as a cadet with Yuba City Police Department. She joined the Yuba County Sheriff's Office in November 2004 as a Reserve Correctional Officer and was promoted to a full time correctional officer in April 2007.
Susan has held the positions of: communication team member, contraband suppression unit team leader, jail training officer, cadet advisor, defensive tactics instructor, impact weapon instructor, classification officer, and correctional sergeant. Lieutenant Jensen has been a member of the Technical Rescue Team (Dive Team) since August 2012 and assumed the role of team leader in January 2020. Additionally, Lieutenant Jensen is the Sheriff's Posse liaison, the department's search and rescue coordinator, and is a search and rescue K9 handler.
Lieutenant Jensen promoted to Lieutenant in September 2021. Lieutenant Jensen oversees the jail division of the Sheriff's Office. Lieutenant Jensen studied Criminal Justice at Chico State University and has an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement and an Associates Degree in Corrections.
During her free time, Lieutenant Jensen likes to spend as much time as possible in the outdoors and enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with family and friends
