Homeowners Pulling Their Own Permits
  • Only homeowners who own and live at the home may do their own building/general construction work, such as: additions, remodels, decks, sheds, swimming pools, fences, among others.
  • Electrical permits are allowed to be pulled by the homeowner. However, panel/service work is not allowed by homeowners.
  • Replacement of water lines, faucets, and water closets is also allowed by homeowners. All other plumbing work will need a permit pulled by a State Licensed Plumber.
  • Homeowners may also replace small portions of their private sidewalks, but may not replace the driveway approach (ie: the portion that connects the driveway to the street. That must be applied for by a bonded contractor).
  • Homeowners who decide to pull their own permits will then be responsible for calling in their own inspections when necessary.
