Jason started with the City of Bettendorf as the Parks Maintenance Supervisor in August of 2019. He brings with him 20+ years of turf management, having intensely maintained green spaces and hardscapes. Jason works closely with City management and the public to coordinate activities, special events, and volunteer committees. While away from work, Jason enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, is an avid golfer and devoted Iowa State fan.
The Parks Maintenance Division of Public Works manages more than six hundred (600) acres of green space in the parks system. With twenty-seven (27) named parks, we take a great deal of pride in providing an excellent experience at our parks, fields, natural areas, and trails for the citizens of Bettendorf and park patrons. Our parks offer a wide variety of options for all ages to explore and enjoy outdoor recreation, continuing the goal of creating a healthy, expanding community. With the Mississippi River being an integral part of the Quad Cities and community, we have four (4) riverfront parks offering scenic river views, boating, fishing, and trails, along with the ongoing development of our newest park, the Urban Park, adjacent to the Interstate-74 corridor.
Our maintenance responsibilities include:
- Mowing city property
- Playground equipment inspection and maintenance
- Athletic field maintenance
- Horticultural duties, planting, and taking care of planting beds
- Park beautification
- Maintenance of park restrooms, park shelters, and other buildings within the parks system
- Trash collection in city parks
- Seventeen (17) miles of separated trails, fourteen (14) miles of recreation trails, and seven (7) miles of bike trails
- Mowing of adjacent city property
- Cleaning
- Mowing the grounds of public buildings
- Snow removal
- City parking lots
- Sidewalks
- Trails
