The Bremer County Highway Department strives to provide and maintain the safest and highest quality roads and bridges possible. Bremer County is responsible for 565 miles of gravel roads, 148 miles of paved roads, and 225 bridges over 20 feet in length. This includes all roads in Bremer County except those located within city limits or towns, private subdivisions, US 63 and 218 and state highways 3, 93 and 188.

Code of Iowa requires that each county employ a Professional Engineer, licensed in Iowa, to oversee the construction and maintenance of the county's roads. The highway department has two divisions: Engineering and Maintenance.

Report any road problems to the Engineer's office during normal business hours and to the Law Center after hours.
