The Landscape and Tree Preservation Board is established to assist the Town in administering landscape and tree preservation standards pursuant to the Land Use Planning and Zoning Ordinance in efforts to consistently preserve and enhance Kiawah's natural environment and to ensure the continuance of significant trees and forests for present and future generations.
TPB functions
- Review and approval of proposed Tree Preservation Plan for all proposed commercial or residential developments
- Review and approval of the proposed removal of any Specimen Tree or Grand Trees
- To hear variance request from strict interpretation of landscaping and tree preservation standards
- Recommend such legislation as may be needed and practicable to pursue the purpose for which the Board was established.
- Serve as an advisory board for the Town for matters pertaining to landscape standards and tree preservation.
