PETITIONS

  • Candidates who are running for Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, Sheriff and Trustee must submit their petition by  NOON on February 19, 2026. 
  • This is for candidates who wish to participate in the May Primary elections or as an independent candidate in the August General election.
  • Candidates who are running for County Mayor, County Commission and School Board  the August General election must submit their petition by March 10, 2026.
  • Any qualified voter desiring to be a primary candidate for office must obtain a nominating petition from the Trousdale County Election Commission. The deadline to file nominating petitions and all supporting documents (if required) is 12:00 noon Thursday, February 19, 2026. 

MAY 5, 2026 PRIMARY 

  • Democratic and Republican County Primary Elections are hereby called for in Trousdale County, TN for Tuesday, May 5, 2026, between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm at all the precincts
  • Candidates who are running for Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, Sheriff and Trustee must submit their petition by February 19, 2026.  
    • Circuit Court Clerk (4 year term)
    • County Clerk (4 year term)
    • Register of Deeds (4 year term)
    • Sheriff (4 year term)
    • Trustee (4 year term)
  • Any qualified voter desiring to be an independent candidate for these offices to be on the August 6, 2026 General Election ballot must file their nominating petition and all supporting documents (if required) by 12:00 noon Thursday, February 19, 2026. Withdrawal deadline for all candidates is Thursday 12:00 noon, February 26, 2026. Withdrawal statements must be in writing and signed by the candidate.

Election Commission

The mission of the Trousdale County Election Commission is to provide election services, election information and civic education to the citizens of Trousdale County.  The commission strives to ensure impartial, fair and accurate elections in our county.  The five members of the commission are appointed by the State Election Commission for two year terms in each odd numbered year.  Three members are from the majority party in the General Assembly and two members are from the minority party in the General Assembly.  The Election  Commission employs an Administrator of Elections to conduct the daily operation of the office.

The Election Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm at the Election office.
