Yuba County is dedicated to protecting the rights of renters and landlords and promoting fair housing choice. We want everyone to know that discrimination in housing is illegal, and provide you with the resources you need to resolve issues.

Fair Housing

Discrimination in housing rental, sales and financing on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, source of income, disability or familial status is prohibited by Federal (Fair Housing Act). List of Protected Classes.

Rental Housing​ Problems

The County’s Code Enforcement Division opens cases when there is a possible code violation. Property owners responsible for code violations are given the opportunity to correct the situation and comply with current codes without penalty. Common housing code violations include: leaking water, lack of smoke detectors or weather-stripping, extreme unsanitary premises, broken windows, deteriorated fencing, and exposed wiring.

Reporting Housing Discrimination

Report Fair Housing violations to State of California Department of Civil Rights, formerly known as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
